About The Marriage Office

A private celebrant service for people who just want to get married

We keep marriage simple, affordable, and easy to understand. This is a paperwork-first service for couples who want the legal marriage without the full wedding production.

Registry-style means short and simple. It does not mean government-run. We are private celebrants.

What We Do

Simple legal marriages

  • A low-cost, registry-style marriage service
  • Help with the marriage paperwork in plain language
  • A short legal marriage appointment with a private celebrant
  • Support around the Notice of Intended Marriage and required documents

What We Do Not Do

Not a wedding-day production

  • A full wedding ceremony with personal vows and a custom script
  • An aisle walk, seating plan, styling, music cues, or rehearsal direction
  • A guest-focused ceremony experience
  • Government registry services

How It Works

Choose local first, then follow that office

You fill out the booking form, pay the fee, prepare your NOIM, have it witnessed by an appropriate witness, and send the paperwork through. Once it is received and confirmed, we lock in a date, time, and place.

1

Choose your local office

Use the office directory or the map on the homepage, then open the local office website for the area where you want to get married.

2

Book with that office

Each local office handles its own bookings, fees, and availability, so the local website is where the booking journey starts.

3

Prepare your NOIM

Use NOIMeasy to prepare the Notice of Intended Marriage, print it, and have it witnessed by an authorised witness.

4

Wait for confirmation

Once your local office receives the paperwork and checks it, they confirm an available date, time, and place.

The service is still registry-style and paperwork-first. We are private celebrants, not a government service, and the legal basics still apply: the NOIM generally needs at least one month's notice, a legal marriage needs two adult witnesses, and the local office confirms the appointment after the paperwork is received and checked.

If you are not sure how to prepare the Notice of Intended Marriage, start with NOIMeasy . It walks you through the form step by step and creates a PDF ready to print.

Australian Law

We keep the advice practical and lawful

Everything on this site is written to line up with the Marriage Act 1961, the Marriage Regulations 2017, the Code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants, and the Attorney-General's marriage celebrant guidelines.

The NOIM matters

The Notice of Intended Marriage usually needs to be received at least one calendar month before the marriage date and no more than 18 months beforehand.

We still do the legal ceremony

Even the simplest marriage includes the required legal words and signed certificates. It is brief, but it is still a real marriage ceremony under law.

Two witnesses are required

Australian law requires two witnesses who are at least 18 years old to be present at the marriage.

Each person must meet the celebrant

Before the marriage, the celebrant must physically meet each party separately so the legal requirements can be checked properly.
